Dirty South & Thomas Gold feat. Kate Elsworth - Alive (Blinders Remix)

Hello guys! Can you give a short little presentation of yourselves?

Hi, I'm MichaƂ and together with my bro Matt we are Blinders.

When and how did you get into electronic music?

We've been interested in electronic music since childhood, we used to record some mixtapes on casette players etc. Interest has been growing up for years and now we produce our own stuff. Must also admit that it was always our dream when we were children.

How long have you been producing music and dj'ing together? Have you been playing in separate bands etc. before making music together?

No, we've been making it together since always as that we're brothers and we've been living together. And how long? I guess it's been like 4 years of producing or so. DJing in clubs came after that.

What do you use to produce your music? Any favorite plugins or hardware?

You have to believe that our hardware setup is REALLY skimpy and I guess you don't wanna know how skimpy! Haha. We produce on FL and favorite plugin is Sylenth1.

You still come out with very clean productions with very good mastering, do you believe expensive hardware and stuff is overrated?

Hmm I wouldn't say that it's overrated but definitely it's possible to create a good sounding track on some cheap speakers and without any synthesizers, controllers etc. But sometimes, like you said, expensive hardware is really helpful.

What inspires you for music creation? What kind of music do you like, except EDM?

We listen to various kind of music like rock, hip-hop, indie or electronic sounds like ambient, chillout, dupstep, d'n'b. We're never closed for new music experiences and all these sounds kinda inspire us to create our own.

So if you would describe your own music with only three words, which ones would it be?

Our homemade house.

When you sit down to make a track, what’s the first thing you do? How long does a track typically take you to make?

We usually start production from percussion. That's the first thing. It sometimes may take a few days to make a whole track and sometimes a few weeks. Depends.

Dj'ing or producing, what do you prefer and why?

Both are fun. Full stop.

When you’re not making or playing music, what’s your preferred pastime?

Get wasted with friends.. Hmm, sounds like djing, haha! But don't forget! We spend most of our time in school apart from music stuff.

You recently attended in the remix competition for Dirty South's and Thomas Gold's 'Alive' and you received great feedback by Dirty South, have this led you to any new projects?

This remix got great feedback from our listeners also, has been supported by Alesso so it's always good experience. Now it's coming out at Dirty South's label Phazing and we'll see if it's gonna bring something good in future.

Can you tell us about anything else coming in the future?

In the nearest future there's gonna be released remix at Zouk from us and our friends Total Sound, some productions with Bream and one with Antillas and vocalist. But by now we can't say more details.

Okay, one final question - It looks like we have some breaking news about Paris Hilton releasing a house album this year, what do you think? Will she reach no. 1 at Beatport?

What? Am I cut off from the media? Haha I haven't heard about it. She's done too much scandals.. For what another ones? Haha.

I guess time will tell.. Thanks a lot for the interview guys! I wish you both good luck in the future!

Thank you!
